The Independent Operational Purpose Division or ODON, formerly called OMSDON (aka Dzerzhinsky Division) is a rapid deployment internal security division of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR and then the Russian Federation. ODON (Russian:Одон) is an initialism for Отдельная дивизия оперативного назначения (English: Independent Operational Use Division).

Division traces its history since 1924. Its soldiers participated in the Russo-Finnish War (1939-1940). During the Great Patriotic War, fought against the Nazi invaders in the West and Volkhov fronts.

June 24, 1945 regiments of the division marched through Red Square and laid the banners of Nazi Germany to the foot of the Mausoleum during the Victory Day parade.

Division was awarded the Order of Lenin (1939), the Red Banner (1944), the October Revolution (1985), Zhukova (2014). For courage and heroism in the performance of military duty, thousands of soldiers and officers of the division were awarded military orders and medals, 12 were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, 19 - the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
