The museum Liaunig in Carinthia Neuhaus (Slovenian: Suha) Opening in May 2015 in accordance with a large renovation and expansion its doors again. The Austrian Post is dedicating this spectacular building a special stamp from the series "Modern Architecture in Austria".

The private museum houses the art collection of the industrialists and economists Dkfm. Herbert W. Liaunig, who is primarily known as a corporate restructuring specialist. Liaunig acquired in 1988 Neuhaus Castle west of Lavamuend as a residence and refuge for his art collection, but soon the place was too small, and he began planning a new museum building. Started in 2007 the construction of the extraordinary museum, the draft of the young Viennese architects "lateral force" comes from. In summer 2008, the museum has already been opened. The building consists of four integrated into the terrain building volumes, of which only the elongated gallery wing is visible, protruding conspicuously. This 160 meter long "white cube" is replaced by mostly natural light from above and has two terraces with excellent views of the surrounding countryside. The other parts of the building are underground. The museum gives according to the ideas Liaunigs an industrial style that is enhanced by the use of materials exposed concrete, steel and glass. Overall, the building complex originally had a floor area of ​​approximately 5,000 square meters. The architecturally striking building has already been asked in 2012 listed and awarded the Austrian Museum Prize.

The collection of over four decades and applying Liaunig comprises mainly contemporary Austrian art from 1950, which is extended by some striking pieces foreign painters and sculptors. Works by Austrian painter and graphic artist as Arnulf Rainer, Marc Adrian, Hubert Schmalix, Peter Pongratz, Maria Lassnig and many more are complemented by sculptures by Joannis Avramidis, Fritz Wotruba and many other artists. A contrast to contemporary art forms the permanent exhibition "Gold of the Akan": In a large black cube, which is the main exhibition space of walkable, 600 jewelery and cult objects African royal tribes from the 19th and 20th centuries are shown, one of the world's greatest collections of this type.
