Stamp design manager Danielle Trottier, a long-time pet owner, and Roy White of Subplot designed these engaging stamps to invite interaction. Detaching the stamps from the backing allows you to let the animal out of the cage or kennel on its way to a good home.
The animal models for the stamps—2 cats, 2 dogs and a parrot—are all from a shelter, and the background features sketches of each animal’s dream of home.
The stamp booklet adds to the story by featuring each pet’s name and individual experience.
“Adopt a Pet” campaign
In 2010, close to 150,000 homeless pets were admitted to shelters. While many were either returned to their owners or placed in new homes, too many remain homeless.
The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS), the national voice on animal welfare issues, is spreading the word that when looking for a pet, the first stop of animal lovers should be their local humane society or SPCA.
The new Canada Post “Adopt a Pet” series of collectible products reminds everyone of the importance of adopting an animal from one of the many shelters across Canada.
