The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) - a specialized agency of the United Nations in the field of information and communication technologies. The first International Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris by 20 States May 17, 1865, which was the basis of the International Telegraph Union (ITU first incarnation). Today, the ITU includes 193 states, as well as leading academic institutions, the world's largest producers and 700 private companies. The International Telecommunication Union is engaged in the distribution of the radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits on a global scale, the development of technical standards that enable effective interconnection of networks and technologies, improving access ICT to underserved communities around the world. ITU provides all individuals an effective, safe, simple and affordable access to opportunities offered by modern communication technologies. The stamp features the logo of the 150th anniversary of the ITU on a blue background.
