San Carlos became a city on July 1, 1960. It is formerly known as “Nabingkalan” derived from the word “Nabingka” which means a beautiful daughter of the Negrito chieftain who settled in the area that ruled the village in early part of 17th century.

The commemorative stamps features the two major attractions in the City of San Carlos, the City Hall Building and the famous Pintaflores Festival with the city’s official seal in the background.
