PiS flagship during their electoral campaign was to boost natality and convince Poles they could have a future in their country. In order to do this, they promised to give Polish families a monthly allowance of 500 złoty (PLN) – equivalent of €113 – for all second and subsequent child up to the age of 18, including those already born.

Social care program Family 500+ started in April 2016. Deputy minister of Labour, Bartosz Marczuk, claims that 278,000 more children will be born in the next decade as a result of the programme.
