South Korea 2016
Endangered Species - Otter

COUNTRY: SOUTH KOREA
ISSUE DATE: 15 March 2016
STAMP SIZE:36.5 x 26.8 mm
STAMP DESIGN: Kim Sojeong

Korea Post has been issuing special stamps in series to raise awareness of endangered wildlife. This year's set introduces the otter. The otter population has plummeted in the region due to excessive hunting for fur and loss of habitat caused by river development projects. As a result, the otter was designated in 1982 for protection as Natural Monument No. 330 and in 2012 as Class I Endangered Wildlife.
