Hero of the Russian Federation is the highest title awarded for services to the state and to the people associated with the performance of a heroic feat. Established on March 20, 1992. The Hero of the Russian Federation is awarded a “Gold Star” medal, a special sign of distinction. 



Mark N. Evtuhin (1964-2000) was the Commander of the parachute battalion, 104 guards parachute regiment 76 guards airborne division, Colonel. March 12, 2000 He was awarded (posthumously) the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for bravery and heroism in the performance of the elimination of illegal armed groups.



February 29, 2000, M.N. Evtuhin was received the combat task to direct the capture of parachute company with the reinforcement units for occupation the commanding points. During the advance scouting patrol unearthed a group of militants. The combat action lasted more than a day. The battalion commander personally exterminated 15 militants, but was mortally wounded. The Marines remained loyal to the military duty and missed the group of militants, exterminated more than 400 people.


Nikolay V. Skrypnik (1944-1996) was the first Deputy commander of North-Caucasian district of internal troops of the MIA of Russia, General-major. He was awarded (posthumously) the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for bravery and heroism in the performance of the counter-terrorist operation. 



July 11, 1996 when was the detour of positions units on the borders of the village happened the destruction of the APC. N.V. Skrypnik was fatally wounded and died in hospital.
